COHASSET PROJECT STATUS
Work will occur during extended hours throughout the Town of Cohasset with work starting at 7:00 am and extending to 8:00 pm as necessary - work is likely to occur during the same hours on Saturdays as well.
Right of Way work will occur during extended hours throughout the Town of Cohasset with work starting at 7:00 am and extending to 6:00 pm as necessary - work is likely to occur during the same hours on Saturdays as well.
CBB has completed the cross culverts in the Department of Conservation and Recreation's Bike Path from Route 3A to Wompatuck State Park. Work will commence in the spring to construct the path itself.
Grade Crossings: CBB will continue to move rail into place through out the Town of Cohasset for next two weeks. I hope that the following will help explain the steps necessary. Day closures are necessary to either load rail onto the spine train to be transported down the line or where rail is actually pushed across a crossing. Intermittent closures, 10-12 minutes are necessary in instances where rail is being off loaded, but some of the rail remains across a crossing in the process, finally, as the spine train, carrying rail moves across a crossing, traffic will be delayed 3-5 minutes allowing the train to pass. CBB has been coordinating these moves with the Town of Cohasset to assure they are carried out safely.
Sohier Street crossing is open to traffic. Crews will return to the area to do final paving, curbing, and sidewalk work in the fall. There will however be work in the right of way immediately adjacent to the crossing in the meantime. Please reduce speed as you travel through this area.
The grade crossing at Pond Street closed on Monday, September 11th. Crews have resumed activities at the Spring and Pond Street crossing - grade crossing work including utility installation is underway. CBB has closed the connection from Cushing Street to Pond Street.
The temporary crossing at Spring Street - near the skating pond - (this crossing closes permanently once the Pond Street crossing is complete) has re-opened to traffic.
Pleasant Street grade crossing in Cohasset Village is open to traffic, but there will be periodic lane closures to complete the work - sidewalks and handicapped ramps, etc.
Smith Place was closed permanently for installation of the James Brook Culvert and track installation on July 11th. Access to the Shops at James Brook Crossing is readily available from Pleasant Street.
Bridge Work: The Rocky Lane Bridge has been opened to traffic - thus closing the grade crossing permanently.
Right of Way work: Crews have essentially completed the grading and drainage work on the ROW between Beechwood Street and Rocky Lane. Track work is nearly complete throughout the entire Town of Cohasset.
Crews are working on signal and cable installation in the Right of Way between Pond St. and North Main Street at the Hingham Line.
Cohasset Station: We continue to use the station site as a staging area.
Rehabilitation of the Cohasset Municipal Parking Lot is nearly complete. The first stage of paving was completed on August 9, 2006 - crews are setting curb and preparing for the final layer of asphalt pavement. CBB is preparing to install the last pieces of curbing with the intention of re-paving on or about November 13th. CBB will need to return in the spring to complete ledge removal behind the teen center and pave the final spaces.
